I have enjoyed countless of rounds of vingt-et-un. I began sneaking into the gambling halls when I was sixteen. I have enjoyed online 21, I have counted cards, and worked as part of a team for a little while. With all that said I have still spent all kinds of bankroll at blackjack. The gambling dens have made it very hard to beat the house.
I still enjoy the game and wager on a regular basis. Over the years I have played a variation of vingt-et-un called "The Take it Leave it Method". You certainly won’t get rich with this method or beat the house, still you will have an abundance of fun. This method is founded on the idea that blackjack appears to be a game of runs. When you’re hot your on fire, and when you’re not you’re NOT!
I play basic strategy 21. When I lose I wager the lowest amount allowed on the subsequent hand. If I lose again I wager the lowest amount allowed on the subsequent hand again etc. Once I hit I take the payout paid to me and I bet the original wager again. If I win this hand I then keep in play the winnings paid to me and now have double my original bet on the table. If I win again I take the payout paid to me, and if I win the next hand I leave it for a total of 4 times my original wager. I continue wagering this way "Take it Leave it etc". Once I do not win I lower the action back down to the original sum.
I am very strict and never back out. It gets extremely exciting sometimes. If you win a few hands in series your bets go up very fast. Before you realize it you are wagering $100-200/ hand. I have had great runs a couple of times now. I left a $5 table at the Flamingo a couple of years back with $750 after 45 minutes using this technique! And a few weeks ago in Las Vegas I left a game with $1200!
You have to understand that you can give up much faster this way too!. But it really makes the game more exciting. And you will be surprised at the streaks you see playing this way. Here is a chart of what you would wager if you continue winning at a five dollar game.
Wager 5 dollar
Take $5 paid-out to you, leave the initial 5 dollar bet
Bet 5 dollar
Leave five dollar paid-out to you for a total wager of 10 dollar
Bet ten dollar
Take $10 paid to you, leave the original 10 dollar bet
Wager 10 dollar
Leave 10 dollar paid-out to you for a total bet of 20 dollar
Wager 20 dollar
Take twenty dollar paid to you, leave the initial 20 dollar wager
Wager twenty dollar
Leave 20 dollar paid-out to you for a total bet of 40 dollar
Wager forty dollar
Take 40 dollar paid to you, leave the initial $40 wager
Bet forty dollar
Leave forty dollar paid-out to you for a total bet of eighty dollar
Wager eighty dollar
Take $80 paid-out to you, leave the original $80 wager
Bet $80
Leave 80 dollar paid to you for a total wager of 160 dollar
Bet 160 dollar
Take one hundred and sixty dollar paid-out to you, leave the first 160 dollar wager
If you departed at this point you would be up 315 dollar !!
It’s herculean to go on a streak this long, but it can happen. And when it does you can’t alter and drop your bet or the final result will not be the same.
